Kavach — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 22 July 2026  ·  Applies to the Kavach mobile app.

Kavach (“we”, “us”) helps families care for an ageing parent: saving their life stories through a gentle AI “Story Call” and keeping a quiet watch over their daily wellbeing. This policy explains what personal data we handle, why, and the choices and rights you have. We are operated by Mudit Tiwari.

1. Who this policy is for

Kavach is intended for adults: family members (“guardians”) and the elderly parent whose care they support. Kavach is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from them or show targeted advertising to anyone.

2. What we collect

CategoryExamplesWhy
Account & identityGoogle sign-in identifier, name, cityCreate your account; secure access
Family circleParent's name & city, invite code, relationshipsConnect your family; show the right dashboard
Care & wellbeingReminders you set; the Document Vault — reference details you type in (e.g. an ID number, an insurance detail, a key contact) and, if you choose, photos of documents you take with the camera or pick from your gallery (e.g. a photo of an ID or insurance card); daily check-in and "all is well" / mood statusThe core care features
PhotosOnly images you deliberately add to the Document Vault. Taken with the camera or chosen from your gallery; stored with additional encryptionLet the family keep a copy of an important document
Story Call contentThe conversation transcript, the saved story and the mood summary — all as textCreate and store the family's stories
Voice inputIf the parent chooses to answer by speaking, the microphone captures their voice during the call so it can be turned into text on the device in real time. The audio itself is not recorded or stored — only the resulting text is keptLet the parent reply by talking instead of typing
DevicePush notification token & app installation identifier, platform, timezoneDeliver reminders & alerts at the right time
Payments (if/when offered)Processed by Razorpay / Google Play; we do not store card detailsTake payment for premium features
Much of this data is about the parent but entered by a guardian. We rely on the family confirming they have the parent's agreement, and the parent can review and consent on their own device.
Camera & photos. Kavach accesses your camera or photo library only when you choose to add a document photo to the Document Vault, and only for that action. The image is encrypted and stored with the entry; Kavach does not scan, browse or upload any other photos.
Microphone & voice input. Kavach uses the microphone only during a Story Call, and only when the parent chooses to answer by speaking instead of typing. Their speech is turned into text in real time using the device's built-in speech recognition, so Saathi can respond. The audio is used only for that live transcription and is not recorded or stored by Kavach — only the text transcript of the conversation is saved. Kavach never listens to the microphone outside of a call you start.
What Kavach does not collect. Kavach does not listen to the microphone outside of a Story Call you start. It does not collect GPS or precise location — the only location information is the city you choose to enter. And Kavach contains no third-party analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising SDKs.
Sensitive information. Some details you choose to add — such as an ID number or a photo of an ID in the Document Vault, or your daily check-in and mood status — can be sensitive or health-related. We treat these with extra care, store Document Vault entries (text and images) with additional on-device encryption, and use them only to run the features you enable. Kavach is a family wellbeing tool, not a medical device or healthcare service.

3. How we use your data

To provide and run the app's features (stories, check-ins, reminders, the Document Vault, Help alerts), to keep the service secure, to respond to your requests, and to comply with law. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

4. Our legal basis (India & EU-style)

We process your data with your consent, which you give in the app and can withdraw at any time, and as needed to deliver a service you asked for. The information you enter is processed only to run the care features you enable.

5. Who we share it with

We use trusted processors who act on our instructions:
